Proud Owner and Founder of Six/Ten
Ashley Thomas launched Six Ten Salon in 2019 with a vision that no one else in the Slate Belt was willing to take a chance on: a salon rooted in local values, elevated by luxury, and built entirely on teamwork and exceptional service. At a time when most salons were focused on individual success, Ashley dreamed of something bigger, a community-driven space where stylists could thrive, clients could feel genuinely cared for, and everyone who walked through the door felt like they belonged.

She didn’t just grow up in the Slate Belt, she built something here that’s never been done here before. What began as a modest four-chair salon our small town, has grown into a 6,500-square-foot powerhouse of beauty and hospitality. Home to over 30 team members, a thriving boutique, and a culture that’s been nationally recognized for innovation, education, and excellence.
In 2023, Six Ten was named a Salon Today Top 200 Salon for its standout business growth. In 2024, the spotlight shifted to what makes Six Ten truly special, its team culture, as the salon was again named a Top 200 Salon, this time for its commitment to leadership and team development. Then in 2025, Six Ten earned a third consecutive Top 200 honor, once again recognized for its impressive growth and sustainable business model. That same year, the recognition reached a new height when Six Ten was named one of Salon Today’s Salons of the Year, celebrated for its intentional and elevated design that reflects the heart of the brand. These aren’t just accolades, they’re proof of what’s possible when you pair vision with relentless follow-through.But even more than the growth in square footage or awards, Ashley is proudest of this: Six Ten was the first of its kind in the Slate Belt. Today, Ashley spends most of her time mentoring her team, expanding her business, and consulting salon owners all across the country. But her journey began right here in her small town, where she fell in love with hair in 2008 and later fell even harder for leadership and entrepreneurship. Her deep belief in people, systems, and purpose has helped her grow a business that doesn’t just follow trends, it sets the standard.
Six Ten Salon embodies what Ashley calls “local, laid-back luxury”, a balance of high-end service and down-to-earth connection. It’s a vibe that reflects the town itself: rooted, real, and ready for anything.
